Woodend Barn lands creative funding

Banchory arts hub Woodend Barn has been awarded £400,000 in funding from the Scottish Government.

The centre was among the 119 given “regular” funding over 2015–18 by Creative Scotland.

Woodend Barn’s Lynsey Rae said that the centre was “delighted” to be selected.

She added: “We feel privileged to have been one of the successful organisations selected to play a part in Scotland’s vibrant cultural infrastructure.”

Creative Scotland chief executive, Janet Archer, said: “This is work that supports thousands of individual artists and people working in the sector, reaching audiences across the country and making an invaluable contribution to all our lives.

Janet Archer, chief executive of Creative Scotland, described the process as “hugely inspiring”.

“I’d like to say congratulations to all of the organisations who have been selected for the portfolio, we look forward to working with you over the coming years to support you in the delivery of your plans.”

Rae added that despite the funding, Woodend Barn will still seek £50,000 in donations and sponsorship.

The centre plans to use the money “to enhance our commitment to creative educational work, artists’ residencies, research and community outreach projects around the whole Woodend site”, Rae continued.

The decision follows an application process which began with the programme’s launch in April.
