Banchory-born Considine given testimonial year

Andrew Considine has made over 200 appearances in his ten years with the Dons.
Aberdeen star and Banchory lad Andrew Considine has been honoured with a testimonial year by his club.

The central defender, 27, was rewarded after a decade with the team.

Considine, who came through the youth system at Aberdeen, has made more than two hundred appearances for the club in his ten years there.

He said: "It is exciting for myself, it is exciting for my family. I am very fortunate to have been at this club for all these years.

"I just want things to go well on the pitch so that [this] is a memorable year for myself and everyone connected with the club."

Considine made his debut for the Dons in 2004, and was a first-team regular two seasons later. He was named Player of the Year by Aberdeen in 2012.

A testimonial dinner will be held at the Marcliffe at Pitfoldels near Cults on November 10, featuring appearances from Aberdeen legends Theo Snelders and Paul Mason, and Radio Scotland presenter Richard Gordon.

His year will also feature a high-profile friendly game at Pittodrie, though details are yet to be confirmed by the club.
